This assignment was to create both high poly versions and low poly texture baked versions of three seahorses. Reference material was provided to assist with the modelling of the seahorses.
The models were originally created in 3DS Max and exported to ZBrush to create the high poly models. The various fins, eyes, and bodies were all created as separate objects. The models were then painted in ZBrush to create a realistic look using custom materials, transparencies and brushes.
To create the low poly texture baked models the high poly versions were exported back into 3DS Max. The separate objects were all attached and then the model was “rendered to texture” using both the low and high poly models to create the maps for painting. The maps were painted in Photoshop and then applied back in 3DS Max.
